We have some good news for those who are already running Linux hostings with us or plan to buy a new plan. We have in-house developed a cPanel plugin called PH-777 a.k.a. Permission Handler. This module lets you manage/change permissions and ownership of any folder/file recursively right through your own cPanel account. This module is ideally most suited for Joomla and Wordpress developers who have problems installing modules/components. Also it is useful if you have files/sub-directories owned by user nobody.
To use this module, simply login into your cPanel accounts. There you will see an icon PH-777 under Files section if you are using the x3 theme. Click on it. In the next screen you have the options to :
Clicking on 'Submit Request' will send your request to the server. Processing of the request can take 3-5 min. Also you will be able to see the status of your request.
Since permissions and ownership of files/folders deeply impacts the security, we request you to revert the permission back to 755 or 644 once you have accomplished the task. With respect to public_html folder in your home directory, its permission from security point of view should always remain 710 and the User:Group should be cPanelUser:nobody. So it you need to set all directories within public_html 777 moded, you can apply first apply 777 mode on public_html recursively and after this operation is done, apply 710 on public_html non-recursively.
