A webmaster may encounter certain issues while installing Wordpress through Fantastico on a server running Pure-FTP.
Ideally we would prefer that you directly download Wordpress from wordpress.org and use it. But if still you want to use via Fantastico, here is the way to go forward. Steps in this article do not apply if you are using Wordpress 3.2+

Well this article of mine is a biased article which is being written to put forward the case of Linux Hosting (PHP/JSP Java Developent) viz-a-viz Windows Hosting (.NET/ASP Development). Also we look into the various metrics which make the case for Linux Hosting stronger apart from just development reasons. Our earlier article http://packwebhosting.com/content/myths-about-hosting-platforms explored the common myths of Web Hosting platforms. This article follows from where the last article was signed off.

At Pack Web Hosting our aim is to offer services which provide a better value for money proposition with each passing day. It is towards this endeavor that we have now launched a new Dedicated MySQL Server for our Linux Hosting customers. This setup alone can provide you as much as 2x performance gains for your websites as compared to when MySQL is run on the same machine with CPanel, Apache/PHP, Mail Server etc. This is primarily so because MySQL consumes more Computing/CPU Power than any application running on the server.

Security is probably the most important aspect of hosting services. People is this trade might have experienced themselves or may know someone who has had to go through the harrowing experience of website hacking/malware injection.

These days anyone who is online know there are two popular operating system platforms - Linux and Windows. Even if someone does not know, might have heard about Linux by now :-). On your desktop, it does not make much of a difference as Microsoft Windows is considered the defacto operating system - atleast in India where rampant piracy is there. For many a people only Windows is THE Operating System. But all this changes when you need to host your website.
